Marie sighed. She watched everyone dance, she was the only one not dancing. Stupid Rebecca. She asked Derik before Marie got the chance to. And he's too nice to say no. Phh, like he'd say no. Marie thought she looked too formal. Way too formal. She had saved up for about seven months for the dance, maybe more. And it wasn't even worth it. A three hundred dollar dress, two hundred dollar jewelery and accesseries, mascara eleven dollars and pumps eighty. 591 dollars wasted just to watch others have fun and stand alone listening to orchestras and the occasional DJ.
Marie wanted something special to happen, something out of the blew perhaps. It should have been a magical night; but it turned out to be hopeless. Chantelle was going to pass down the Kennedie Queen role, and she would be in the dirt. Almost everyone thought it would be Sydney obviously, but Sydney would never accept that. As a QB, you had a servant along with six other "best friends" and sat on the stairs giving people bad compliments, texting, and the odd making-out-with-their-boyfriend. Definatly Chantelle material; definatly not Sydney material. Tenley Westminster (Derik's sister) could never be Queen Bee, even though she was drop dead gorgeous. She dumped Chantelle which made the whole school hate her. Now Chantelle is going to a different school. Well, so she says.
Marie had very long thoughts, she thought about everything, and thought about it hard. She thought usually an hour or two about Derik and Rebecca. It was seven long months they've been fighting. Marie was sick of it; Rebecca that was. She could never be sick of Derik. They've known each other since about Kindergarten. Typical love story, hey?
